It’s a one of its kind in Oregon training academy. Chris Penn, Lead Heating, Air Conditioning Technical Trainer with Wolfer’s Technical Academy, joined us to share how it was developed to address the shortage of qualified Heating, Air Conditioning maintenance technicians.
The Academy trains students to work in the Heating, Air Conditioning industry and fill much-needed positions at Wolfer’s and gives students an opportunity to receive a professional certification as an alternative to going to a four-year college. It can also offer a good option to people who want to change career paths. Wolfer’s training program is approved by the VA for GI Bill benefits, including the post-9/11 GI Bill and Chapter 35 benefits.
Students are paid to learn the trade and upon graduation they are guaranteed a spot on the Wolfer’s team. The Academy engages students in a comprehensive learning experience and gives them the tools for success and growth in the future which in turn benefits not only Wolfer’s but makes the graduates more valuable to the community at large. The motto at Wolfer’s Technical Academy is “Learners today, Leaders tomorrow”.
